White Castle

I recognize that White Castle isn't "gourmet" food by any stretch of the imagination, BUT it does hold a particular niche. With relentless inflation, they have resorted to what all restaurants, fast food and otherwise have resorted to- shrinking portions and rising prices. I recently had my first 1921 burgers. I hadnt had any burger from White Castle in several years. The quality of the meat has changed, the volume has become like a sliver, and my stomach can't handle the grease well anymore. I had switched to the impossible slider, and liked it a lot. But it took so long for them to make it. I tried switching to the fish sliders. Tiny little fish portion for a not tiny price. You had to wait, and if they didn't change the oil as quickly as they should, it would taste rancid. So on a whim, this 1921 burger. First, it looks nothing like the picture from their press release. Second, the lettuce was BLACK and rotten in places. Can we say "salmonella?" Yes, I should have taken it back. Yes, everyone from behind the counter trying very hard to deal with all the drive thru traffic would come out and stare at me with "that look." I was already "hangry" so I ripped off everything but the tiny sliver of meat and ate it. I hope this location can get its act together. There are times you get "that craving." But not if this is the reality.

It has been a long time since I've come to a White Castle and when I got here the restaurant is clean and looks maintained. It took time to put in my order and longer than I expected to get my food, most people just go to the drive thru. I wanted to come in and see how the place looks. They do take cash as well as credit. The food took some time but it was good, I liked it. The order was done correctly so I'm glad. Free parking and handicap ready.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE: Ordertaker asks for order then holds a conversation in the background as you speak. Order is of course wrong. No Onions. So they took my bag and threw cold onions on my sandwiches. Shoved bag back thru window. No apology. No smiles whatsoever. Completely turned me off to White Castle. My appetite will not crave them for a good while, if ever.
