The Italian beef is so juicy it could hydrate a desert, but good luck eating it without looking like you just survived a food fight. The cheese fries? Pure bliss. I’d trade family heirlooms for a lifetime supply. And that chocolate cake shake? It’s basically a hug in a cup… from someone who’s trying to clog your arteries. But here’s the deal: the lines are so long, you might need to bring a sleeping bag and a will to survive. And yet, I keep going back like a moth to a flame, knowing full well I’ll leave stuffed, slightly ashamed, and already planning my next visit. 5/5—Portillo’s is chaos, but it’s the kind I live for.

Very busy Saturday late afternoon. Stood in line for a short time. Atmosphere is over the top with a Chicago deli theme. Lots of places to sit. I ordered Italian beef sandwich with sweet and hot peppers. Ordered it slightly wet which ment the bun was passed thru a gravy. Sat down and waited for my name to be called at pickup area. Was very short wait. The sandwich came wrapped tight in Deli paper. The sandwich was stuffed with beef, the bun was thin and not overpowering. The peppers were just the right amount. After my 2nd bite I realized why it was so busy. The sandwich was rich with Italian beef flavors almost made me want to order 1 to go. I had a difficult time eating the whole sandwich because it was so much meat. But I could not stop eating it. Very good take on a Chicago style Italian beef deli style sandwich. Worth a stop.

I had about the best Italian beef sandwich with American cheese and peppers 🌶 meal. Comes with fries and I wanted a sweet tea. It was delicious 😋
