During our meal, we found a hair in our food, which was incredibly off-putting. We immediately called someone over and asked to speak with the manager. A staff member returned and claimed to be “in charge,” but their response to our complaint was shockingly cold and unprofessional. Instead of apologizing sincerely or offering a proper resolution, they dismissed our concern with a simple “okay” and asked if we wanted another dish. We declined because, at that point, our appetite and experience were ruined. When I mentioned that I would leave a review, their response was just “okay”, showing complete indifference. I asked for a refund, as we couldn’t enjoy our meal due to the unsanitary conditions, but the staff refused, saying we had already eaten part of the food. This was extremely frustrating, as the issue was their fault, not ours. To make matters worse, they casually remarked that “everyone in the back has hair” and pointed to a staff member with long, uncovered hair, which only confirmed the restaurant’s poor hygiene standards. Terrible customer service, unacceptable food hygiene, and an overall disappointing experience. If you care about cleanliness, professionalism, and respect as a customer, I would strongly advise avoiding this place.

I had an incredible experience at La Banquise, and I can’t wait to return! The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the cozy atmosphere and the unmistakable aroma of delicious food. Known for its poutine, La Banquise certainly lived up to the hype. I ordered their classic poutine, and it was a mouthwatering combination of perfectly crispy fries, rich, flavorful gravy, and fresh cheese curds that were just the right amount of squeaky. The menu is vast, with so many creative variations of poutine to choose from. It was hard to decide, but I ultimately went for one of their specialty poutines with added toppings. Each bite was better than the last, and the portion size was generous, ensuring I left fully satisfied. The service was friendly and efficient, and despite how busy it was, the staff made sure we had everything we needed without feeling rushed. The prices are very reasonable, especially given the quality of the food and the generous portions. Whether you’re a poutine lover or a first-timer, La Banquise is an absolute must-try in Montreal. The food is comforting, flavorful, and made with care—definitely worth the visit!

Lovely spot. Very welcoming. Great staff. Anthony O was my server and he was very nice, kind and accommodating. Will be back in the future.
